My parents had a deep love for classical music and began taking me to concerts as a very young age. This inspired me to take up piano at the age of 6 and by the age of 15 I left my native Colorado and moved to New York to study piano at the Hoff-Barthelson Music School.
While in New York I performed concerts with the Yonkers Philharmonic, The Philharmonia Virtuosi and recitals at the Caramoor Music Festival. I was also invited for a student exchange program and played chamber music concerts at The Hague music school in the Netherlands.
I attended the Manhattan School of Music and completed the Bachelor’s of Music and Master’s of Music programs in piano performance. During my schooling I worked as a piano teacher, piano accompanist, and music librarian staff. I then earned a scholarship to the University of Oregon doctoral program, where I majored in piano performance with a minor in piano pedagogy and worked as a Graduate Teaching Fellow in both teaching and accompanying.
After graduation, I moved to Southern California where I maintain an active teaching career and work as an accompanist for choirs, singers, instrumentalists, operas and musical theatre productions.
Reflecting back on my student years, I cherish memories of an environment where teachers were knowledgeable, understanding, and compassionate and where I felt like learning was fun and I was guided to discover how practice could be enjoyable. This is the environment I strive to create for my students.
