Ms. Margaret
I started my musical training when I was 4 years old--it was a
requirement in my family to learn an instrument growing up. During my first piano lessons, I developed my love for music because I had a very loving and patient teacher whom I adored. I was fortunate to have started with a teacher like her and I strive to provide the same for my students.
My first public performance occurred when I was 10 with Kuang-Jen Symphony orchestra and I loved every moment of it. That amazing performance opportunity motivated me to keep up with my music studies all through college.
After that experience, I realized how performance opportunities motivate and have the chance to be life-changing for students.
I taught at Mt. San Antonio and Santa Ana College in addition to over 25 years in my own private studio. Most recently, I taught at Orange County School of the Arts in Santa Ana. These experiences gave me the opportunity to teach a wide range of student ages and levels and with different aspirations and goals.
My personal teaching philosophy is to help each child to excel at his or her own speed and potential the same way my first piano teacher did. Each student has their own timing; there is no rush to finish exam levels or get certificates at a specific age.
I pay very close attention to each child as a whole. My goal is to foster a lifetime of musical development which is why I believe in the benefits of exposing students to different musical activities throughout their lives. But the most important thing I want to instill in my students is a solid foundation and understanding of music that'll allow them to appreciate music to the fullest.
After all, it’s all about the learning process and it should be positive and enriching to their everyday lives.
