About Ms. Keika

When I was 7, my family moved to New Jersey and I began studying with a teacher who was strict but still made lessons fun and exciting; This balance in her teaching style led me to improve exponentially, fueled my curiosity in music, and created a strong and lasting relationship.
One day, my teacher performed Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz (an extremely difficult but cool piece!) right in front of me. I was completely mesmerized and impressed. This was the moment I decided I want to become like her when I grow up - a wonderful pianist and teacher.
My piano teacher was my childhood role model and inspiration, and I hope to be able to influence my students in the same way.
My music journey started...
When I started taking piano lessons at 5 years old with my younger sister.
Within a year, our parents saw how much we loved playing the piano and bought us our first grand piano. (Which we both still play on even to this day!)
As a child, I hated practicing, there were so many other things I wanted to do outdoors. However, I began to realize how rewarding it was to perform a piece beautifully after countless hours of hard work. It helped that I had a sister and friends who were also learning piano - it motivated me to keep up and practice.
