I Believe...

Music is the beauty of life God has granted to us, and playing music is the best way to praise and glorify God's name. Teaching music is to show them how beautiful their life is and how to turn their bad days into better and joyful days in God's love and grace.
Music teachers are the ones living the fullness of their lives by listening to music and playing music with their students.
As a Korean-American Christian, I have had the privilege of working for students in diverse cultures and countries. All the experiences of being a musician and teacher in different countries gave me a better understanding on different ways of expressing the love of music, and on the multicultural background of students.
Giving up my professional performance career because of a muscle-nerve injury in my late 20s was the greatest challenge of my life, yet the best turning point.
It made me appreciate music in my life more and increased my willingness to share the beauty of music with others. It also helped me to see the greater purpose of God in my life and continue my study for a Doctor of Church Music, concentrating on Orchestral And Choral Conducting.
Training and supervising the teachers for the course, administering the school affair, preparing and proceeding the presentation for branch-opening, preparing and leading rehearsals and school concerts, supervising students and counseling the parents were the main job descriptions of my previous teaching experience. However, witnessing how music works in one’s life and turns one’s life to a different direction, sharing the joy of playing and singing together, and even learning from the little ones how to love one another are the most advantages for me of being a music teacher.
I believe what I have experienced is the thing I do the best and helps me do well in teaching the students.
