The beginnings…
My journey in music began at the age of 9 when I started my professional piano career at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music where I received comprehensive training in various aspects of music, including music theory and history.
As an educator with over ten years of teaching experience, I am passionate about providing my students with a professional piano education that lays a solid foundation of keyboard skills and music theory knowledge.
I tailor my teaching to the unique requirements and aspirations of each student, whether they are beginners or aspiring college applicants.
I take great joy in guiding and elevating their musical abilities, ensuring that the learning process is engaging and enjoyable.
I am a professional pianist, harpsichordist, and fortepianist. I attained my Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I majored in Piano Performance and minored in Early Performance.
Before that, I earned my Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and my Master of Music degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Additionally, I was admitted to the selective Artist Diploma program in Harpsichord at the same university.
My expertise extends to music from the Baroque and Classical eras, thanks to my extensive experience mastering historical instruments that Mozart and Bach composed on. During my time at UW-Madison, my dissertation focused on Russian composers and their impact on new music, earning me recognition as a "Russian Specialist."
My journey as a musician and educator has been incredibly fulfilling, and I look forward to continuing to share my passion for music with you.
