I am the mother of a toddler. Like every other mom, I envision him to be a future Einstein/Mozart 2.0 (joking! Mostly ;)). I definitely want music to be a big part of my son’s life because I personally know the benefits of this beautiful gift.
One day my son, Micah, clapped his tiny hands with me while I was singing “If You’re Happy and You Know It”. His quick response immediately reminded me of P-Nut (our family beagle) when he hears the sound of his food container and instinctively knows what to do (Micah, honey, I adore you and I promise this comparison is out of love!).
After this eye-opening experience with Micah's response to music, I started teaching him words and more hand movements through songs. He looooves it. I can confidently say that my son loves music (*mommy dance party!!!*). Micah loves it so much that music is our go-to method for soothing him when he is hurt or sad.
So I thought: “I want other kids to enjoy music and learning as much as Micah and I do, AND I want them to appreciate music as young as they can!”
And that's how this course was birthed (forgive the expression). Our charming, talented, and experienced teachers, Ms. Gabby and Ms. Caitlan, have worked with me to come up with our very own curriculum for 2-4 year-olds. We believe that we can instill a lifelong love for music into your child’s heart through singing, dancing, storytelling, and crafting.
Here is a brief snapshot of what kids learn in our class:
Lots of singing and dancing
Exposure to different instruments
Learn solfege (do-re-mi-fa-sol-la-ti-do)
Develop a good sense of steady beats and learn basic rhythms
I hope to see you in having fun with us, and so does Micah :)
