Dong received her master's degree in piano performance from Ohio University and doctoral degree in piano performance from University of Nebraska Lincoln. Her teaching skills are trained in piano/group piano pedagogy courses and private teaching during graduate schools, she developed her own improvisational teaching curriculum, meticulously designed repertoire for all levels, and her own teaching style which focuses on discovery learning and active learning.
Dong was the winner of many international competitions such as 2017 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, and 2016 London Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition. In addition, she was the honorable mention of Alexander & Buono International Competition, and the finalist of Gershwin International Music Competition. The performances took her to the world prestigious concert venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Carnegie Hall in New York. During her graduate school years, she also appeared as an active performer giving solo recitals and playing in chamber ensembles and symphony orchestra in many concerts.
