When I first dabbled with music…
Ever since I was a little girl, my answer has always been the same whenever somebody asked what I wanted to be: teacher.
My answer never wavered. It did, however, start to take on a more specific form of teaching.
When I was thirteen years old, I started teaching piano lessons. I had never even considered that possibility as a future career, but I quickly realized how much I enjoyed it.
(I found out I could do more with piano than just spend hours practicing!)
I haven't stopped teaching piano since and when I realized I could get a degree in teaching piano, I went all in.
I'm a Professional Piano Teacher!
I started taking piano lessons at age 5 and then went on to major in Music Pedagogy [Def: the method and practice of teaching] at the Wheaton College Conservatory of the Arts.
While there, I studied piano under Dr. Karin Redekopp Edwards and pedagogy under Dr. Beth Bauer. I have been teaching piano lessons for over ten years and taught many students, young and old! In addition to teaching private lessons, I also have a special fondness for group classes and I've spent a lot of time working with groups, specifically using the MusikGarten curriculum.
