Growing up, I've always had a love for singing and music.
I remember always singing in the shower and how annoyed my siblings were at me for singing so loud!
However, my music journey didn’t start until I joined choir during my sophomore year of high school. Choir helped me break out of my shell. I even met one of my one closest friends through choir whom I am happy to call my best friend!
After high school I spent the next few years studying music at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB). During my time there, I studied contemporary styles of singing. I consider myself a late bloomer when studying music because my first EVER private singing/music lesson was when I was 18 years old as a freshman in college.
I had SOOOO much to learn when it came to music.
Learning music theory gave me headaches and made me cry because of how hard it was.
Music history was SOMETIMES fun.
But learning how to perform and sing was my favorite - that was ALWAYS fun.
Performing gave me a chance to connect with the audience in a way I never thought I would be able to connect with people. It also gave me such joy to perform. Everything that came along with learning music was a great opportunity for me to grow as an individual.
